TOOF BRUSHIN' & TURKEY COOKIES..

So, I decided to finally give in and buy my poor, neglected child a toothbrush. At Cash's 1 yr visit to the pediatrician a couple weeks ago, the doctor insisted that he was, and I quote, "long overdue for a pediatric dental appointment." PUHHH-LEEEEZ tell me that I am not the only one that thought this was a joke? I don't know what part seemed more amusing: the idea of my overly animated one year old in a dentist's chair, or the idea of a dental assistant trying to control my overly animated one year old in a dentist's chair. However, after asking around I realized that some people were totally opposed to bringing their child end before the age of two, and some though it was a life/death situation if you don't bring them in by one. I decided to wait until Cash is 18 months, and go from there.. In the meantime, it couldn't hurt to be brushing his teeth at home. Cash's normal diet consists of eggs or oatmeal and a banana in the morning, a turkey sandwich on wheat bread (cut in small strips) and mac&cheese for lunch, and whatever I cook for dinner, along with milk or white grape juice periodically throughout the day. Being that he's eating "people food" now, it only makes since that he brush his teeth. I sent J to the store to get his tootbrush the other night, and this is what he came back with.

Yes, you saw correctly.. That's a light up tootbrush, and Sponge Bob toothpaste. Probably wouldn't have been my first choice, but at least he didn't come back with a Playstation game or something.. I planned on doing some research to find the "perfect" state of the art toothbrush and toothpaste for toddlers, but I doubt spending $15 more on a toothbrush will make a difference.. Not to mention, I think Cash enjoyed this one just fine.. Judge for yourself..

Pretty cute, even covered in Sponge Bob Toothpaste foam..

Anyway, I made these cute little turkey cookies from Pillsbury for my little man as a "Brushing your teeth for the first time gift.." Ehhh, yeah. I'm THAT bad! I think they'd be perfect to bring as a guest to a Thanksgiving dinner, or to wrap up and give out as guest favors for a Thanksgiving party.. Here's the recipe. Hopefully it'll help to hold ya'll over for Christmas, because if it was my choice right now, I'd kick Thanksgiving to the curb and put my Christmas Tree up RIGHT NOW!

NEED:
- 1 roll (16.5 oz) Pillsbury refridgerated sugar cookies
- 1 container Chocolate creamy frosting (I used Duncan Hines!)
- Candy corn
- Orange decorating icing
- Black decorating gel icing
- Miniature candy coated chocolate baking bits

STEPS:
- Heat oven to 350°F. Bake cookies as directed on roll. Cool completely, about 20 minutes.
- Spoon chocolate frosting into resealable food-storage plastic bag; seal bag. Cut small hole in bottom corner of bag.
- On each cookie, pipe frosting on outer edge of half of cookie. Arrange candy corn over frosting for feathers.
- Pipe orange icing onto each cookie to resemble turkey face and feet. Use orange icing to attach baking bits to turkey face for eyes. Pipe black gel on baking bits for centers of eyes.

There you have it! The easiest, cutest turkey cookies in the world!
